Udaipur is the ultimate in luxury destinations and among the most favourite haunts of tourists in Rajasthan, all with good reason. Udaipur-the City of Lakes is also known as the Venice of The East. It has several beautiful lakes including Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar, Udai Sagar and Swaroop Sagar.

Udaipur has a long and chequered history. The capital of the Rajput kingdom of Mewar, Udaipur was founded by Rana Udai Singh. The Lake Palace in the midst of Pichola Lake and the City Palace are well known.

The City Palace stands on the east bank of Pichola Lake. The Lake Palace, originally known as the Jag Niwas was inaugurated in 1746. Jag Mandir, another island in the Pichola Lake has earned acclaim for its beautiful garden courtyard. Other attractions in Udaipur include the City Palace and Museum, the Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal, the Maharana Pratap Memorial or Moti Magri, Sajjangarh Fort, Gulab Bagh & Zoo, Dudh Talai, Nehru Garden, Bagore-ki-Haveli and Shilpgram.

Udaipur is not short sightseeing, with many world famous attractions dotted around. These include Nathdwara (gateway to Lord Shri Krishna) which lies 48 km from Udaipur, Ranakpur, Chittorgarh, Haldighati, and Kumbhalgarh.

Like other places in Rajasthan, in Udaipur too, the temperature can shoot up to more than 42°C in summers while temperature in winter plummets down to 2°C or even less.
